Skincare expert & professional trainer Tan Kai Li, has over 15years solid experience in the beauty and cosmetics industry, both locally and internationally. She has conducted numerous corporate training & workshop sessions for retail companies, business owners, product distributors and customer service personnel. A certified image consultant, she has extensive experience in business development & consultancy for both large corporations and smaller companies in the cosmetics line.

Beauty self-starter

With a career designed over a decade, the beauty and cosmetics industry was intuitive to Kai Li. She cites Coco Chanel who inspired her in beauty & fashion, with the late icon’s quote ‘Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself’ serving as her foundation.

Kai Li started out in sales and marketing for a skincare brand. Her persistence and dedication launched her into the upper echelons of the beauty industry and she eventually found herself at Luxasia – the region’s beauty leaders. There she was the Trainer for Guerlain (Paris), Kenzoki (Paris) and the Guerlain Institute Treatments. Kai Li was eventually headhunted to L’Oréal Malaysia under the Luxury Products Division, as the Trainer for Lancôme and the Education Manager for Kérastase.

Over the years, she developed a well-rounded portfolio as the trainer/educator for the following areas and brands: Face (facial, skincare) – PAYOT, Guerlain, Kenzoki, Lancôme, Biologique Recherche; Body (aromatherapy, detox, slimming) – Anesi Beauté, Biologique Recherche; Hair (scalp & hair care) – Kérastase, Biologique Recherche; Nail care – Belfeet & Thuya from Spain; Hair removal – Depilève from Spain.

Kai Li started La Pétales Beauty Consultancy over 3year ago. La Pétales means the petal in French and was inspired by the life cycle of the flower – from bud to blossom – and symbolizes women’s softness & beauty as she blossoms like a flower.

Her main objective in founding the business was to provide a one-stop consultation centre that provides facial and spa services, luxury brand consultancy services like corporate beauty training, seminars, workshops, personal grooming and beauty/cosmetic advisory services. The company carries Swiss line by Dermalab (a luxury, anti-aging Swiss skincare brand offering age preventative and restorative products) and Comfort Zone (internationally renowned professional spa brand backed by clinical research using nature’s most efficacious ingredients).

Her services are tailored towards educating her customers about their skin, providing relevant tips for maintenance and customising their facial and spa needs based on their skin requirements.

Kai Li’s vision is to provide targeted skin consultation and facial treatments according to her customer’s needs. She believes in beautifying one’s skin through professional services and techniques with top-notch quality products that actually delivers results. Having mastered the dynamics of the beauty & cosmetic industry and being instrumental in the expansion of key brands locally, Kai Li intends to grow her business into an enduring luxury beauty & consultancy enterprise, woven into the fabrics of Malaysian society.
